The best IR teams in Asia, according to investors and analysts

Who’s broken into the Top 25 lists for Greater China and South East Asia?

More than half of IR Magazine’s top-performing companies for IR in Asia are new entrants to this year’s charts. Both the IR Magazine Greater China Top 25 2022 and the IR Magazine South East Asia Top 25 2022 include 13 companies that did not make it into the 2021 tables.

The Greater China and South East Asia Top 25 charts feature in the IR Magazine Investor Perception Study – Asia 2022 and are compiled from the results of research into this year’s IR Magazine Greater China Awards and IR Magazine South East Asia Awards, both held virtually this month. Investors and analysts in Asia are asked to name the highest-performing companies in a number of categories and the results of this are combined to provide a table of overall IR excellence for each region.

China Resources Beer remains the best-performing company for in IR in Greater China, having held the top spot in that region in 2021. The top 10 also includes five companies that were outside the Top 25 last year, although two of these – China Unicom (Hong Kong) and Kerry Logistics – have traditionally performed well in these rankings in previous years.

The highest new entrant in the Greater China Top 25 is Hong Kong-based BC Technology, taking third place in this year’s table. It is the highest-placed small-cap company in any of the regional charts of IR excellence compiled by IR Magazine this year and was specifically mentioned by Asian investors as the company that had made the most progress in IR within the Greater China region.

South East Asia ranking

Thai-based materials company Indorama Ventures holds the top spot for IR in South East Asia, having been in 12th place in 2021. PTT Exploration and Production is up from 19th last year to take second place this year. Central Retail Corp, holder of the top spot in 2021, is in third place this year.

There are four companies in the top 10 in South East Asia that were outside the Top 25 last year, including two Indonesian small-cap companies, industrials company PP in fourth place and energy company Petrosea in seventh.

Consumer companies did particularly well in Asia this year, accounting for more than a third of companies in the Greater China Top 25 and South East Asia Top 25 lists. Technology companies also do well in the Greater China list, while energy and materials companies have a notable presence in the table for IR excellence in South East Asia.

The IR Magazine Investor Perception Study – Asia 2022 is the result of research conducted among members of the Asian investment community in Q2 and Q3 2022. The full report is available to IR Magazine Essentials and Advanced subscribers.
