Thai oil firm PTT Exploration and Production is leading the pack with six nominations for the upcoming IR Magazine Awards – South East Asia 2021, including in the coveted best overall investor relations (large cap) category. The company’s IRO Thanat Thamrongsaksuvit is also up for best investor relations officer (large cap).
The best overall investor relations (large cap) category is rounded out by Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, Bank Central Asia, CP All and PTT, with each firm in the running for three awards across the event.
Five companies are in the running for the best overall investor relations (mid-cap) award: Adaro Energy, Berli Jucker, Central Retail Corp, Cromwell European REIT and Home Product Center. After PTT Exploration and Production, Berli Jucker has the most nominations, with four in total, including for Rami Juhani Piirainen in the best investor relations officer (mid-cap) category.
Just three companies will compete for best overall investor relations (small cap): Dohome, Eastern Polymer Group and Major Cineplex Group.
The IR Magazine Awards are split into two types: the awards-by-research categories are based on a survey of investors and sell-side analysts who cover companies in the region. Respondents to the survey vote for their favorite companies and individuals in three areas: best overall IR, best IR officer and best IR by sector.
The awards-by-nomination categories allow companies to submit entries across a range of subjects, from best annual report to best crisis management and a rising star award for newcomers to IR. In this section, the winners are selected by a panel of expert judges. This year’s panel features:
- Joshua Lee, senior portfolio manager, Bank of Singapore
- Professor Roy Ling, CEO and founder, FollowTrade
- Vijay Natarajan, analyst covering real estate & REITs
- Jeannie Ong, group chief IR officer at MyRepublic and director at the Singapore Investor Relations Professionals Association (IRPAS)
- Garnet Roach, senior reporter at IR Magazine
- Harold Woo, IRPAS president
The winners of the IR Magazine Awards – South East Asia 2021 will be revealed at a virtual event on Tuesday, December 7 following the South East Asia Forum. This year the forum will see the region’s IR professionals discuss macroeconomic trends affecting IR and how to build an ESG offering that meets investor expectations, and look at what’s inside a modern digital IR toolkit. The forum will be followed by a networking opportunity before the award winners are announced.
