New director of IR named at award-winning Valmet

Finnish firm won two awards at last month’s IR Magazine Awards – Europe 2019

Pekka Rouhiainen has been appointed as the new director of investor relations at IR Magazine Award-winning Finnish pulp and paper firm Valmet.

Rouhiainen, who takes over the role on September 1, succeeds Calle Loikkanen who took home the rising star award at the IR Magazine Awards – Europe 2019 in London last month. Valmet also won the trophy for best IR website (mid-cap) and was short-listed for best use of multimedia for IR and best investor event (small to mid-cap) – all in the awards-by-nomination section of the event.

It was announced last month that Loikkanen would be stepping down from the company at the end of August; no replacement was named at that time.

Rouhiainen will join Valmet from Cargotec, where he has served as IR director since October 2018, having joined the company’s IR team in 2016. At Valmet he will report to Kari Saarinen, CFO at Valmet.

Prior to Cargotec, Rouhiainen worked in IR at Sanoma Corporation and also has experience as an equity analyst.

‘We look forward to having Pekka on board as he will be a great addition to our internationally acknowledged investor relations team,’ says Saarinen in a statement. ‘He has a versatile background and an understanding of modern, global investor relations.’
